RULES FOR BIG CAR DERBY

INSPECTION 4PM – 7PM DERBY STARTS 7:30PM
ENTRY FEE $45.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE)

GENERAL
  1. Any 1980 and up car allowed
  2. Helmet, eye protection, and working seat belt are mandatory
  3. Must have working brakes
  4. If parts are changed in between heat, consultation, or main, they must still be in accordance to the rules or you will be disqualified
  5. If you fail inspection for the 2nd time, you will repay entry fee if you want another shot
BODY
  1. All glass, trim and interior should be removed with the exception of the driver seat
  2. Must have factory body bolts and bushings in all locations except the core support. You may use 1 inch all thread with a 6 inch spacer max. Spacer cannot be welded.
  3. Rear quarters and pillars can be creased, but must remain upright, no doubling or seam welding, can shape the truck
  4. Hoods and trunks must have a hold 10” X 10” for inspection and hoods must be open during inspection
  5. Doors and trunks may be secured by unlimited wire, chain or welded with 3” X 4”, plates 2 per seam, do not combine any of the 2 options, driver’s door can have door plate ¼”; max not to exceed the door seams and driver’s door only can be welded solid
  6. Hoods can be secured by wire, chain, or 3 pieces of angle no longer than 3” with a bolt, 3 per each side will be allowed
FRAME
  1. No welding of any kind on the frame unless stated in the rules
  2. You may notch the frame behind the rear axle
  3. You may tilt or cold bend the fame, 1/2 weld max with no added metal.
  4. Prerun cars will be allowed a total of 2-4” X 4” X ¼” patch plates, abuse this and you will not run
STEERING AND SUSPENSION
  1. Suspension must bounce
  2. Can use aftermarket tie rod and ball join
  3. May run any tie rod and ball joint
  4. 98-02 39 are allowed watts link conversion
  5. 03-up must run factory aluminum cradle
  6. Factory OEM spindles only
  7. Sway base cannot be welded to the frame
  8. Can fun any wheel and tire combo
DRIVETRAIN
  1. Can weld motor mounts and rear end gears
  2. Engine and rear end can be changed
  3. Rear end can be braced, but cannot strengthen frame or body in any way
  4. Rearend must be an original 5 lug, no 6 lug or 8 lug
  5. Engine can have ½ cradle max amp; pulley protector
  6. You can run sliding drive shaft, after market shifter, pedals, distributor clamp
  7. No transmission protectors.
  8. Transmission coolers are allowed but must be secured and covered
DRIVERS COMPARTMENT
  1. Can have 4 point cage with 60” max door bars
  2. Cage must be 1” from firewall and 6” off floor
  3. NO gas tank protectors
  4. Cage can attach to sides only, no down bars of any kind
  5. Rollover bar is optional, can only attach to cage and must be straight up and down
  6. Battery and fuel tank must be secured and covered
  7. If using electric fuel pump, must have kill switch marked for emergency personnel
BUMPERS
  1. Can use any bumper, if homemade can’t be any thicker than ¼”. No extreme points or you cut it off
  2. Bumpers can be seam welded and loaded
  3. Factory bumper shocks only and can be welded to frame and bumper. Must be extended 2”, no added metal of any kind, can hardnose bumper
  4. Must wire or chain bumpers.
  5. Bumpers can be no lower than 16” and no higher than 24” measured from the bottom

IF YOU BUILD IN THE GRAY AREAS BE PREPARED TO CUT OR WATCH FROM
THE STANDS. IGNORANCE OF THE RULES IS NO EXCUSE!!!
THE FOLLOWING WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION

  1. BREACHING OF THE OUTSIDE BARRIER
  2. IGNORING ANY OFFICIAL
  3. NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES
  4. USE OF ANY ALCOHOL OR DRUGS
  5. TARGETING A DRIVERS DOOR
  6. FIGHTING AND THIS INCLUDES YOUR PIT PEOPLE
  7. 2ND FIRE
  8. TAG TEAMING OR SANDBAGGING
